June Events Recap at The WellFlower Cannabis Dispensary
The Great Outdoors Month has come and gone and we sure did enjoy all of our time outside with all of you. To start off the month our Manistee dispensary team headed to Onekama to work at North Point Park. After that we had our Nature Photography Day with our Ypsilanti cannabis dispensary team alongside our friends Scout Cannabis Co. We ended the month with Scout Cannabis as well with a community kayak paddle back up north in Manistee for National Kayak & Canoe Day
The WellFlower Cannabis Dispensary Big Day of Serving
June 11th is the official Big Day of Serving for Manistee in which around 70 volunteers joined together to work on various projects around the city. The Wellflower Manistee Cannabis Dispensary got tasked to head over to North Point Park. This park features a couple of different short loops with beautiful nature views, open air, and a good amount of shade (one loop more than the other).
Starting off with the Big Day of Serving we helped remove some invasive plants and trees and moved some fencing around. With the help of our new friend, Gene, we got the task done quite quickly and were able to spend some time chatting about his time in the lumber industry before meeting up with the rest of the crowd that was starting to show up and the park ranger who was leading our troop of volunteers.
From there we all had some lunch and then they put us cannabis workers to what we know best…trimming. We spent the next couple of hours clearing the 2nd loop of debris and branches, trimming off anything that was making its way on or over the path…
Nature Photography Day at our Ypsilanti Weed Dispensary
Nature sure didn’t hold back as it was hitting 100 degrees as our nature hike and photography class started. After the group meet-up, we started down a path with the most shade, trying our best to stay out of the sun as long as we could.
Gallup Park is an incredible park that features a lake you can paddle or float on, a 1.65 mile loop as part of the B2B trail. Quickly into our trip, we made our way under the bridge where we were able to stay in a shaded and cool area to try out one of the new infused pre-rolls that Scout Cannabis brought us to try. It was a fun time chatting with our group and answering some questions about photography while getting a chance to talk about some other events we are currently working on finalizing.
As we were beginning to continue down the path some more members of our group showed up and we found our way to an open field that had a lot of really cool signs up, but without our shade we continued on.
Right after that we came up to this really cute butterfly and hummingbird garden that had several flowers and plenty of shade.
We spent a fair amount of time here as it was a really interesting spot and people began asking more photography questions, allowing our group time to relax and catch their breath out of the sun.
After that we got to see more of the lake as we found our way going over numerous bridges with a nice open trail between them that allowed our group to spread out and all take pictures of various things.
The hoop we were hiking made its way down and across the Huron River which gave for some excellent views. Our group continually found itself stopping at the bridges to enjoy the beauty around them and of course take some pictures.
Making our way back across the river we got to walk with less foot traffic than the other areas and walk close to the train tracks but unfortunately didn’t get to see a train while we were there.
Upon making our way back to the cars, one of our founders, Dr. Rob McCurren, met our group with food and drinks to end a great night of picture taking and hiking with even better company. We all spent some time laying in the grass as the temperature began to drop and make it more comfortable. We laughed, shared some stories, and got to have a great time where we were really all living in the present moment, which is what it is all about.
Manistee Cannabis Dispensary Community Kayak Event
Finishing up our celebration of The Great Outdoors Month was a day on the water with a community kayak paddle to honor National Canoe Day. Scout Cannabis Co joined us along with some of our favorite Manistee friends to paddle out on the Manistee Lake towards Lake Michigan.
After such a hot week it was nice to have some cloud cover and with that cooler temperatures. The water was surprisingly warm compared to the air which made it nice whenever you’d get a little splashed on you. The wind was a bit heavier than we hoped for but we didn’t let it deter us. Heading out the channel we did have some resistance in the water but nothing too bad.
Making our way towards Lake Michigan we stumbled across numerous fishing boats as we realized there was a competition going on. We got to enjoy seeing a plethora of different boats; from small boats not much larger than our kayaks to luxury boats I wouldn’t mind living on. Of course nothing compare to the Princess of Manistee herself.
As we got closer to the channel the wind started to pick up and we decided to change paths and instead beached our kayaks to enjoy some product Scout Cannabis brought along.Taking some time off from paddling up river we enjoyed the many boats passing through the channel as it seemed that the competition was likely ending.
After seeing a break of boats passing we decided to head back towards the launch and enjoy letting the current carry us while we all relaxed and chatted. The weather was still cool out but was quite refreshing. We made our way back to the launch with smiles on our faces, all eager to do it again.
Overall we’d say The Great Outdoors Month was a success. We are extremely appreciative of all of you for attending and telling your friends about it! From community service to spending time outside with friends and family it was great to spend time with Manistee and Ypsilanti. Keep an eye out as these are certainly not the last events we will be doing!
