Celebrate National Canoe and Kayak day with the WellFlower Cannabis Dispensary

Looking for something fun to do on National Canoe and Kayak day? Look no further than The WellFlower Cannabis Dispensary in Manistee! We are excited to sponsor a kayak trip through downtown Manistee, in hopes of making it to Lake Michigan (weather dependent). National Canoe and Kayak Day 

National Canoe and Kayak Day was first celebrated in 2007. It marks the beginning of summer and it's time to break out your kayak or canoe and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Manistee and Lake Michigan. This community kayak outing will be co-sponsored by The WellFlower Cannabis Dispensary Manistee and Scout Cannabis Co. to promote the great outdoors and the benefits of safe use of weed for both recreational and medical purposes.  The WellFlower and Adam of Scout Cannabis will be leading the event to answer questions about the outdoors and the benefits of marijuana. During the event, you'll learn more about The WellFlower & Scout Cannabis Co and its objective. We think that the enjoyment of nature and cannabis are inextricably linked, which is why this month-long outdoor celebration is so fitting.

National Canoe and Kayak Day Event Details

Similar to our nature hike, we will be joined by Scout Cannabis Co. They'll provide pre-rolls at the event as well. You may register for and confirm your pre-roll by filling out the form below.  Sign-up is required to secure your spot and pre-roll! For this event, The WellFlower will be utilizing the boat access conveniently located across from The WellFlower Cannabis Dispensary Manistee. Parking is available at the boat launch for a small fee. Limited free parking is available at our cannabis store across from the boat launch. The meet-up will take place on June 26 at 11:30 am at 99 Arthur St. Manistee, MI, with the event starting at noon. We are planning on the event taking about 3 hours, so please plan accordingly. We are looking forward to paddling and having pot-talk with you!

Nature Photography Day with The WellFlower Cannabis Dispensary 

This year The WellFlower will be taking full advantage of the Great Outdoors Month (June) to enjoy what the beautiful state of Michigan has to offer and to come together with the community which has given us so much. 

Nature & Photography Hike

Join us on June 15th in Ypsilanti’s Gallup Park for an afternoon of nature hiking and photography to celebrate Nature Photography Day 2022. This community hike will be co-hosted by The WellFlower Cannabis Dispensary Ypsilanti and Scout Cannabis Co. to promote the great outdoors and the benefits of safe use of majijuana for both recreational and medical purposes. 

Our very own Chyna, manager of our Ypsilanti dispensary, and Adam of Scout Cannabis will be leading the event to answer questions about photography and cannabis. They will also talk about The WellFlower and Scout Cannabis brands and their mission. We believe that the enjoyment of nature and cannabis go hand in hand, and what better time than this month-long celebration of the great outdoors.

Where do we meet?

Meet us at 5:30 PM at Gallup Park boat rentals meeting room and join our dispensary staff on an incredible crossing of paths. We will depart for our hike at 6:00 PM onto the B2B trail for a 1.65 mile loop. The round trip should take less than 2 hours for most participants. This hike is 21+ and is considered beginner difficulty. The trail is mostly flat and includes views of the Huron River and the preserved nature that surrounds the area. It is encouraged that you bring weather appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes or hiking boots. Hikers and Photographers are welcome to continue their hike after the loop is complete.

This event is ADA compliant, and bus accessible as we aim to come together with a diverse collection of people from all walks of life. Additional parking and transportation information is available here.

Bring your camera and your hiking boots and capture the natural beauty the state of Michigan has to offer right here in our backyard. This charming park offers all kinds of amenities for the citizens of Ypsilanti, but look a bit closer and you’ll find countless plants and animals who’ve made it their home. Although it is optional, we hope you are able to photograph your favorite parts of the park environment and submit your pictures to our first-ever Nature Hike Photo Contest!

Join The WellFlower Cannabis Dispensary in giving back 

The WellFlower Cannabis Dispensary in Manistee kicks off June's events by joining the community for Manistees' Big Day of Serving, on June 11th, 2022! Hosted by the Manistee Leadership Program, for Manistee County non-profits, Manistee'e Big Day of Serving is a one-day community service event during which participants and teams complete community service activities for various organizations. Volunteers for service projects will come from all over the area, including schools, churches, businesses, social services, clubs, sports teams, and other sources. The Big Day of Serving is a celebration of community in Manistee County. The Manistee Leadership program aims to bring people from all walks of life together to serve and make a difference in our community of Manistee. 

The Manistee Area Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Program culminates on June 11th, with the Big Day of Serving. The Manistee Leadership program, which has been running for six years, lasts 9 months and teaches participants new talents as well as introduces them to prominent community figures. The ultimate objective of the program is for the participants to become leaders by learning how to adapt positive change in the Manistee county community. The WellFlower Cannabis Dispensary in Manistee is passionate about participating in the betterment of our surrounding community.

In the past, The Big Day of Serving has helped out in a variety of charitable causes. In 2020, the focus was on food insecurity, as seen on the Manistee County Big Day of Serving Facebook page. With the aid of 260 individuals, the leadership team provided 6500 pounds of food to those in need. In 2021, the main project focused on educating Manistee's residents on how to recycle correctly. A video was created by the Chamber class of 2020-2021 to aid in providing clarity on reducing contamination in the local recycling system.

The WellFlower Celebrates One Year in Manistee

May 23, 2022—The WellFlower in Manistee is celebrating the success of its first year with a fun-filled event to thank the community for its support.

“The good people of Manistee have embraced us and we are truly grateful for their continued support. This is a generous and cohesive community that works together so everyone can thrive. We’re proud to be a part of things here,” said co-founder Trent McCurren.

The anniversary celebration will take place at the WellFlower store at 50 Arthur Street on Saturday, May 28, 2022 from 10 AM to 8 PM. Festivities will include music by cannabis event queen DJ PRIM, giveaways, and complimentary snacks, a coffee bar from Port City Brew, ice cream bars and a North Channel Brewery gift card giveaway. All first-time customers will receive a free pre-roll.

“We couldn’t let our first birthday go by without acknowledging it and we hope the community will stop by and celebrate with us. As we move into our second year, we’re looking looking for more opportunities to engage with the Manistee area community and to provide quality cannabis and accurate cannabis health information to people here,” said co-founder Dr. Rob McCurren.

Expungement Clinic to Benefit GLEN

Join us as we help Scout Cannabis launch a new line of cannabis products to benefit Great Lakes Expungement Network (GLEN). We’re pretty stoked– The WellFlower is opening its second store– this one located in Ypsilanti and we’re celebrating its grand opening with a weekend of festivities, food and fun on April 8th and 9th.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 3PM on Friday, April 8th with members of the Ann Arbor Ypsilanti Regional Chamber of Commerce and local elected officials.

The store opens to the public on Saturday, April 9th at 10AM. With a day of celebration starting at 11AM until 7PM including:

Together, they’ve opened The WellFlower in Manistee, now Ypsilanti, and, soon, in Northfield Township. They also own cultivation and processing operations in Bangor and Harrison Township.

Ypsi residents Heidi and Stephen Johnson are partners in The WellFlower. “Heidi and Stephen are integral in shaping the store’s contributions to the community and bringing local knowledge to crafting partnerships with other local businesses and nonprofits including We The People Opportunity Farm, a Ypsi-based nonprofit that works to break the cycle of incarceration with farming and community engagement,” said Trent McCurren. 

The WellFlower will be donating a portion of the weekend’s proceeds to We The People Opportunity Farm.

We the People Opportunity Farm is an urban farm located in Ypsilanti Township. The mission of WTPOF  is to break the cycle of incarceration in Washtenaw County by investing in the employment and development of formerly incarcerated men and women through farming and community engagement.

WTPOF's main program is a paid internship program for returning citizens designed to “change the soil in folk's lives.” The internship program runs from March through October and includes farming-related activities such as prepping, planting, nurturing the soil, harvesting and delivery of produce to local restaurants. Our internship also includes an educational curriculum and community engagement activities. These include:

1. Career building workshops through Michigan Works

2. Financial literacy coaching through United Way of Washtenaw County

3. Home Rehabilitation through habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley

4. Enriching site visits in the community

WTPOF also maintains a No Cost Food Distribution program which began in 2020, and was able to distribute over 1,200 lbs of food to the local community last year. This work was supported by both United Way of Washtenaw County and the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation and allowed WTPOF to become a vital part of the community ecosystem and address food instability.
